The Estate is home to a vast area of Ancient Semi Natural woodland which forms part of the Chilterns National Landscape. Our approach to management of these special woodlands is done with the utmost care.

We have a long-term plan to ensure the woodlands are managed well, that they offer diverse habitats, that they are in good condition to adapt to the demands of a changing climate. Within this we work on cycles of havesting, replanting, thinning.

The Estate is home to Grimms Ditch which runs through the Hampden Estate woodlands.  While the history and use behind this ancient monument is uncertain, it was thought that the ditch was created to mark settlement boundaries or offer a route for trade.
